You are in charge of who comes into your emotional house.

This is an analogy that I share with people when they ask me for advice on changing their mindset, especially when it comes to not allowing negative people to get to you.
Imagine a house where your emotions all live. This is your emotional house and you choose who comes in and who stays outside. You can chose to leave the negative people out side that door and not let them in.
That doesn’t mean you need to cut them out of your life but it means that you will not allow those negative emotions into your space. They are not welcome if all they’re going to do is cause distruction in your house.

You are the one and only person who has control over who effects your emotions, learn to protect them.
